Ada teacher gets grant from OG&E

Anonymous Submitted The Evening News Sat Oct 16, 2010, 11:28 AM CDT — Jill Brown, fourth grade teacher at Washington Grade Center, is a recent recipient of an OG&E grant.

Brown’s grant of $798.72 will provide fourth-grade students the opportunity to become familiar with the properties of electricity and the various ways to harness and control it.

Students will engage in building circuits, door bells, and even constructing their own light bulbs.

Brown is among 35 teachers throughout Oklahoma and western Arkansas to receive funds to implement a math, science, or reading project at their school. Winners were selected from more than 100 entrants.

Mary Ann Rutledge, OGE Energy Community Relations Coordinator, presented the check to Brown.

According to OG&E, “We have a long tradition of supporting the communities we serve with reliable energy and programs to help the overall quality of life. The teacher grant program continues that tradition and gives educators an opportunity to pursue projects that might otherwise not be available to them.”

OGE Energy Corp. is the parent company of OG&E Electric Services and Enogex Inc. OG&E serves 740,000 customers in a service-territory spanning 30,000 square miles in Oklahoma and western Arkansas.

Enogex is a natural gas pipeline and energy marketing business.
