Sanders named Tupelo Teacher of the Year
Tupelo Public School announces Janey Sanders as its 2011 Teacher of the Year. Sanders teaches junior high reading, language, and history at Tupelo Schools.
Nancy Janey Sanders graduated from Tupelo High School in 1966, earning a bachelors degree in elementary education and a masters degree in special education from East Central University.
She began her teaching career at Tupelo Schools in 1971. Her first teaching assignment was second grade. Later she was assigned to the middle school. She has also held the position of elementary principal, federal programs coordinator, and Chapter 1 teacher.
Janey and her husband, Herbert Sanders, make their home in the Tupelo community. They have three daughters, Brenda McCurry, Sheryn Sanders, and Katy Krebs: and six grandchildren.
