There is a need to read in the summer
MARQUETTE — With school out for the summer, libraries are trying to keep kids reading.
Monday night was the kick-off party for One World, Many Stories at the Peter White Public Library in Marquette.
Two-hundred-fifty kids signed up for the summer reading program. They each get a reading log and can win prizes for reading. The program also includes a series of events designed to bring kids into the library.
“To encourage the reading, we have all sorts of programs that the kids can come to at the library–story time, concert, we have a juggler coming, we have a horse coming,” said Librarian, Cathy Seblonka.
To sign up for the program, go to the Children’s Room at the Peter White Public Library, 217 N. Front St.
