Six regional universities work together on the IDEAL project.
Three professors in the College of Arts and Sciences spent a year working on a plan aimed at improving the climate for faculty diversity in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields.
Daniela Calvetti, professor and chair of mathematics; Kathleen Kash, professor and chair of physics; and Daniel Scherson, Charles F. Mabery Professor of Research in Chemistry; were the inaugural members of the Institutions Developing Excellence in Academic Leadership (IDEAL) program.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The high school graduation rate among black males in Duval County ranks among the bottom four counties in the country, according to the Schott Foundation for Public Education.
A foundation report said Duval County’s graduation rate for black males is 23 percent. That percentage is based on the number black males who enter the 9th grade but fail to graduate four years later.

WALTHAM, Mass. — Bentley University seniors Maitlyn Kraft (New Braunfels, Texas/St. Mary’s Hall) and Andrea Farah (Miami, Fla./Palmer Trinity HS) both earned All-Tournament honors as the Bentley Invitational volleyball tournament concluded Saturday afternoon at the Dana Center.
Bentley, 3-3 overall and 2-1 in the tournament, split its two matches on Saturday. The Falcons cruised to a 3-0 victory over Holy Family University in their first match of the day and saw their three-match winning streak halted with a 3-1 loss to the University of New Haven in their final tournament match.
There were no ties and no lead changes throughout the Holy Family match with the scores 25-19, 25-16 and 25-12.
