Barrington, Shea will play for D-I soccer championship
CRANSTON — Undefeated Barrington and once-beaten Shea will play for the state soccer championship Friday night at Rhode Island College.
Junior Matt Giron scored two goals, and Barrington edged South Kingstown, 2-1, in the MetLife Soccer Classic Boys Division I semifinals Wednesday night at Cranston Stadium. Three players scored for Shea in its 3-0 victory over North Kingstown in the second semifinal before a small crowd on a breezy, chilly night. Ienik Spencer, Anildo Amado and Emerson Barros tallied for the Raiders, and goalkeeper Julio Garcia overcame a shaky start and preserved the shutout.
Zach Campo scored South Kingstown’s goal with about one minute to play.
The Eagles and Raiders played twice during the season.
